16mm Tekwarm Lite Low Profile UFH Board | 1200mm x 600mm | 100mm Centres for 12mm Pipe

Product Overview:
Tekwarm Lite Low Profile UFH Overlay Boards are high-quality, low-profile insulated underfloor heating (UFH) boards designed for efficient and speedy installation over a flat level subfloor. These boards boast a high compressive strength of 300 kPa, making them ideal for low profile UFH systems. With durable cement coatings on both faces, they are ready for direct application of tiles or wood flooring (on underlay). The board size is 1200mm x 600mm x 16mm, featuring grooves on one face to accommodate a 12mm diameter underfloor heating pipes, ensuring ease of installation with standard radius returns. Custom routed pipe layouts and patterns are also available.

Key Features:
- Low-profile insulated underfloor heating board
- High compressive strength of 300 kPa (kiloPascals)
- Durable cement coatings on both faces for direct application of tiles or wood flooring
- Board size: 1200mm x 600mm x 16mm
- Grooved face for easy installation of 12mm diameter underfloor heating pipes
- Suitable for new build or retrofit installations
- Standard pattern board usually available from stock

Installation Guidelines:
- Timber Base: Use Tekwarm mechanical fixings and washers to secure the boards to the timber subfloor. Ensure the fixings are of appropriate length for the application.

- Concrete Base: Adhere the Tekwarm boards to the concrete using a bed of combed tile adhesive (S1 or equivalent). In some cases, mechanical fixings may also be required depending on the substrate.

- Finishing: In most applications, an additional board is not necessary, and flooring can be directly laid on the upper surface. Wood flooring requires a suitable underlay following the manufacturer's instructions. Flooring grade tiles can be laid on a combed tile adhesive layer. For other finishes, use a separating layer of Tekwarm Overlay Board before installation.

Suitable For: Tekwarm Lite Low Profile UFH Boards are suitable for both new construction and retrofit installations. The standard pattern board is typically available from stock, ensuring quick access for your projects.

Frequently asked questions

100mm centres, what does that actually mean and when would I need it?

This is the tightest pipe spacing in the Tekwarm Lite LP range. Pipes every 100mm instead of 150mm or 200mm, which means more heat output per m². Same slim 16mm board thickness as the 150mm version, so the floor build-up stays minimal. The spacing is purely about getting more heat out of the floor where the room demands it.

Dimensions and specs?

1200mm x 600mm x 16mm, 0.72 m² per board, 300 kPa XPS core, cement-coated faces. Channels cut at 100mm centres for 12mm pipe. One thing to flag: at 100mm spacing you'll use significantly more pipe per m², so make sure manifold ports and pipe quantities are worked out before you order.

Can you explain why 100mm centres gives more heat than 150mm?

More pipe runs per m² means a higher average floor surface temperature and more heat going into the room. At 100mm centres you've got roughly 50% more pipe under the floor than at 150mm. In a well-insulated living room, 150mm is plenty. In a bathroom with tiled walls, poor insulation, or a large radiator to replace, that extra output is often what makes the system actually work rather than just about cope.

Give me a real-world example of where this gets specified.

The classic one is a bathroom in an older semi or terrace. Loses heat quickly, needs to tie in flush with the hallway, and the UFH has to genuinely replace the towel rail. 16mm thickness keeps the build-up down, 100mm centres gives it the output to do the job properly. Also comes up in rooms with a lot of glazing, high ceilings, or north-facing aspects. If you're not sure whether you need 100mm or 150mm, a heat loss calc will tell you.

Should I automatically go for 100mm centres in a bathroom?

Not automatically. 150mm covers a well-insulated modern bathroom without any issues and uses less pipe, so it's cheaper to install. 100mm is the right call when the room genuinely needs more output per m², typically older properties, lots of glazing, or where the UFH is doing all the work with no backup. Get a heat loss calc done if you're not sure. That's the only way to know for certain.
